Community-based Anti-retroviral Therapy (ART) for HIV

At SPARSHA Nepal, we are transforming HIV care through Community-based Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) services, which bring life-saving treatment and support directly to the communities we serve. These accessible, stigma-free services are designed to improve treatment outcomes and quality of life for people living with HIV (PLHIV) and key populations (KPs), ensuring that everyone can access care without facing discrimination or disclosure concerns.

Our ART services include :

1. Community-Based Sites:
These sites, often managed by or for KPs and PLHIV, offer a comprehensive range of HIV services, including:

  • Confirmatory HIV Testing: Rapid and confidential testing to confirm HIV diagnosis.
  • ART Initiation and Adherence Support: Immediate ART initiation, refills, and ongoing adherence support, particularly for individuals facing barriers to accessing traditional ART sites.
  •  PEP Support: Pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV prevention, provided to individuals at risk.
  • Coordination with ART Sites: These sites collaborate with traditional ART centers, ensuring seamless transfer and continuous care for those starting treatment in community-based settings.

Our community-based ART model adheres to the National HIV Testing and Treatment Guidelines of 2020, ensuring quality care across all services. By integrating ART services into familiar, supportive community environments, SPARSHA Nepal is bridging critical healthcare gaps, reducing stigma, and empowering individuals and communities to live with dignity and access to vital treatment.
