Follow-up Discussion on Advancing HIV-TB Collaboration in Nepal (SPARSHA Nepal, July 2024)

The report details the Follow-up Discussion Meeting on HIV-TB Collaboration held on July 24, 2024, in Kathmandu, organized by SPARSHA Nepal with support from AHF Nepal. This meeting aimed to review progress and address gaps identified in the previous December 2023 HIV-TB collaboration workshop. Key stakeholders participated, including government agencies (NCASC and NTCC), development partners, healthcare providers, and community networks. Discussions focused on improving coordination between TB and HIV programs, ensuring adequate supplies of TPT (Tuberculosis Preventive Therapy) and HIV testing kits, enhancing healthcare worker capacity, and addressing financial barriers and stigma. The meeting highlighted ongoing challenges like inadequate integration of services, poor supervision, and limited community engagement. Recommendations included endorsing updated guidelines, enhancing collaboration at service sites, and increasing resource allocation to strengthen TB-HIV co-infection management in Nepal.
