Care and Support (C&S) Program for PLHIV
At SPARSHA Nepal, our Community-Based Home Care (CHBC) and Community Care Centers (CCC) offer essential services to improve the quality of life for people living with HIV (PLHIV). Our comprehensive approach combines medical care, counseling, and community support to address the unique challenges faced by PLHIV, particularly for those starting HIV treatment.
Community Care Center (CCC) Services:
- Medical Care: Our CCCs provide clinical care, antiretroviral therapy (ART), and monitoring for PLHIV to manage their health, allowing for adaptation to new treatments and side-effect monitoring.
- Counseling and Psychosocial Support: Our centers offer counseling to help individuals and families cope with emotional and psychological challenges.
- Accommodation: Our CCCs provide overnight stays for follow-up visits, such as health care management and viral load testing.
- Nutritional Support: We offer food, and nutritional support for clients adjusting to treatment.
- Staff and Facilities: Each center has 5-10 beds (separated for gender and special cases) and is managed by a dedicated team, including healthcare staff, peers, and support staff.
Community-Based Home Care (CHBC) and Support Services:
- Education and Prevention: We provide information on HIV transmission, and treatment engaging with communities to reduce stigma and promote awareness.
- Legal Assistance: Our legal support and advocacy services address discrimination, stigma, and rights violations for PLHIV.
- Peer Support and Counseling: Peer networks enable PLHIV to connect, share experiences, and support each other.
- Income Generation and Livelihood Support: We empower PLHIV with vocational training and job placement services, promoting economic independence.
Together, these services form a holistic support network for PLHIV, creating a bridge between hospital care and community support. Through partnerships with local and national stakeholders, SPARSHA Nepal is dedicated to promoting health, empowerment, and dignity for PLHIV across Nepal.
